Our third guest, Professor Michael Pollitt who is a world renowned expert on energy and climate change will be on Friday, 28 March, 11am, at IQS, to what promises to be a truly exceptional session. Below is a brief bio and the registration link if you're interested in attending.
He is one of the most influential international experts on energy policy and regulation. Professor Pollitt is the current Assistant Director of the Energy Policy Research Group and Professor of Business Economics at Cambridge. His research spans industrial economics, utility regulation, privatisation, and the intersection of business ethics with economic policy. He is also a Research Associate at the Centre for Business Research (CBR), an Academic Co-Director at the CERRE Centre on Regulation in Europe, and a research affiliate at MIT’s Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEPR). His editorial contributions extend across multiple energy and policy journals, and from 2020 to 2023, he served as Vice President for Publications at the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE).
With extensive experience in consulting and advisory roles, he has provided expertise to the UK Competition Commission, Ofgem, Ofwat, the World Bank, and the European Commission, among others. He has also consulted for key industry players, including National Grid, Eneco, and Roche. He has co-led major research initiatives, including the Cambridge-MIT Electricity Project, and has advised regulatory bodies such as the UK Consumers’ Association. In addition to his energy policy work, he has convened the Association of Christian Economists, UK, since 2000.
