· Truphone is one of a select group of providers to offer plans on the new iPhone digital eSIM
· New eSIM technology set to be a gamechanger in telecoms offering new levels of flexibility for consumers
Truphone today announces it will be among one of the first carriers to offer data plans on the iPhone digital eSIM.
The Truphone plans on the digital eSIM will be available for the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and iPhone XR can be accessed via the MyTruphone app when the device is available.
The digital eSIM feature on the new iPhone models will make it even more convenient for customers to connect to and manage Truphone's international data plans directly on their handset. The digital eSIM proposition becomes a travel SIM, usable wherever people roam. These international plans will connect across 80 countries including Europe, the USA, Japan, India, Mexico and Australia.
Upon launch, users can simply download the MyTruphone app on your iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and iPhone XR to gain access to the various plans available. Consumers can enter their email address on the Truphone website and be the first to be notified when the app goes live—and be the first to use the iPhone digital eSIM.
Steve Alder, Chief Business Development Officer at Truphone, commented: 'eSIM technology is the next big thing in telecommunications and the impact will be felt by everyone involved, from consumers to chipset manufacturers and all those in-between. We're one of only a handful of network operators that work with the iPhone digital eSIM. Choosing Truphone means that your new iPhone works across the world—just as it was intended.'
With an eSIM enabled device, consumers enjoy out-of-the-box connectivity without having to purchase a SIM card separately. Users can just turn on their devices and download the mobile plan of their choosing.
As one of the world's leading innovators in SIM technology, Truphone also enables other mobile operators to rapidly roll out support for eSIM enabled devices. Its GSMA accredited remote SIM provisioning platform enables mobile operators to rapidly roll out support for eSIM enabled devices by providing a complete 'as-a-service' solution.
Similarly, the Truphone eSIM operating system implements the GSMA eSIM specifications and is interoperable with any GSMA compliant Remote SIM provisioning platform. This means that for consumer and M2M devices, the eSIM can securely store multiple operator profiles in separate security domains with the necessary telecommunication libraries to support authentication and communication with mobile networks.
Ralph Steffens Chief Executive Officer at Truphone, commented, 'This new technology opens a whole range of opportunities for mobile operators to showcase and develop new plans and solutions for customers. We are delighted to be one of the first to offer flexible eSIM plans on the new iPhone models and look forward to providing the technology to enable other operators do the same.'
