Andalucía Business Breakfast Forum with guest speaker Marc Sanderson
31/03/2022
Last Thursday morning, on 24th March, the British Chamber of Commerce in Spain was pleased to hold its Andalucía Business Breakfast Forum at Marbella Golf and Country Club, and welcome Marc Sanderson, the International Economic Development Director at the City of Málaga.
The Forum was opened by Derek A. Langley, Regional Vice President of the British Chamber of Commerce in Spain, who welcomed all members and special guests who were in attendance, and began by opening the floor for all attendees to introduce themselves and the company that they represent, with members in attendance including Currencies Direct, Gilmar Real Estate, CaixaBank, FluentFinance Abroad, Andalucía Technology Recruitment, NCH Dallimore, TTIP Global, Spence Clarke & Co., EFPG, Megacall, Axis Finance, and UHY Fay & Co.
Regional VP Derek then continued by giving an overview of recent activities in the British Chamber of Commerce in Spain and plans for future activities and events, particularly including the AGM and elections of the Governing Council, taking place on 30th March 2022.
Then, our speaker Marc Sanderson began his presentation, by explaining his relationship with Mayor Francisco de la Torre, which dates back to 2007, and how they have worked together, alongside various other parties, to help create a vibrant hub of activity which takes place in the port city of Málaga.
Marc continued by saying that Málaga had welcomed many new companies into the diverse ecosystem, including Talan, easyJet, Google, Vodafone and many additional start-up businesses to Málaga city and to Málaga TechPark, in addition to highlighting the Málaga WorkBay project to support professional development in a community environment; it has been established and widely accepted that Málaga is a fantastic place to do business, whilst simultaneously offering a quality of life for its residents and expats.
This interesting and stimulating talk engaged all listeners, demonstrated through an influx of questions afterwards, including those relating to Expo 2027 and how the community can support Málaga’s campaign for this, the desire for a trainline along the coast from Málaga to Estepona and even as far as Algeciras, how real estate may be affected by the growth in population in the province, and many other interesting thoughts towards the outlook of the city.
The forum was then closed with a networking session, for attendees to enjoy conversions and creating new business opportunities in a professional environment.
Many thanks to Marc Sanderson, Marbella Golf and Country Club, and to all of our attendees for this event, and we look forward to welcoming you to the next one, which will be celebrating the grand opening of the new FluentFinance Abroad office in Sotogrande, taking place on 21st April from 19:00, at the stunning new SO/ Hotel in Sotogrande.
More information is to be released shortly, and please do RSVP to Harriet at andalucia@britchamber.com if you would like to attend.
