Dragon Days - A KS2 Laude San Pedro Production
14/02/2018
What an awesome success our final performance of the KS2 show “Dragon Days!” That afternoon will live long in the memory of all performers and audience members alike.
The whole process began way back at the beginning of October when the show was initially selected by all the teachers in Key Stage 2. Soon after, all Year 6 children auditioned for roles. Scripts were then sent home to practise with over the October half-term holidays. Every Year 6 student present was given a speaking role - some roles were smaller, some roles were larger - but Year 6 were all actors.
Throughout November, rehearsals involving small groups were done daily until they became rehearsal involving all of Year 6 by the beginning of December.
Whilst the Year 6 actors were rehearsing, all children in Years 3, 4 and 5 were learning 9 lots of song words and their dances. All children were asked to record their vocals for the show’s songs in the multimedia lab to enhance the final performance. There was even 2 solo singing parts recorded and in the show. Each class had a song to dance to on the stage as part of the show too. The choreography of which was developed during lessons and finalised during rehearsals.
Eventually these individual rehearsals became whole key stage rehearsals which mainly involved timings and fine tuning.
Once Tuesday 19th December came round, nearly 250 children were ready to act, sing and dance to make Dragon Days a huge success!
